Interviewed at Monmouth Medical Center. Was very surprised. Recent chiefs were finishing with 2000+ cases, which is pretty sweet since their hours/call schedule aren't too bad. They actually take home call starting their PGY 1 year. And like you said, right on the beach.

I know this is an informal poll, but not having anything better to do and waiting for the results of the match, I sat down to determine what the top 5 of this "Top 5 list" is. I went through everyone's votes and gave programs ranked No. 1 5 points and the ones ranked #2 4 points etc.. to those ranked number 5. The totals are as follows. I didn't have time to calculate a p-value for this, forgive me...
1) Penn 5 No. 1 votes (30)
2) Mayo 1 No. 1, 3 #2, 2 #3, 1 #4, and 1 #5 (26)

However, you have to remember the bias built into the web site by the users. There is a high number of Northeastern students. Also, the 400 users spans a couple of years.

I totally agree with you, I was just trying to be amusing. It is interesting, however, how over represented the northeast is on this forum. I have certainly told all the medical student hopefuls I've come in contact with about this site and its value as a resource during application. Keep up the good work guys...
P.S. I hope to keep hearing from the senior "faculty" once they're in the throngs of their residency.

Yea, well thats a given, before match with Kegs and Eggs, during Match with the"secret keg" aftermatch downtown at a bar we rented.
I was thinking of cool little things to make it "special"

For example, this year we coaxed Verizon Wireless to set up a booth out side the room we use for the match with cell phones so people can make long distance calls to their friends/family for free!
Not as cool as free drinks for a few hours at a bar after match, but some people will dig it.

i liked it a lot but my wife vetoed it to much lower on the list than it would have been based on location. I actually rotated there and liked it a lot and the interview was nice and relaxed too.

You guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but I ranked HSS No. 1 even though I didn't get their "top 8" letter. I figure it shouldn't affect me much if the match algorithm works the way it was explained to me, i.e., that I will match at a program according to my preference list among the programs that ranked me high enough.

i am glad to see that people are doing what they are supposed to do, that is RANK PLACES IN THE ORDER YOU LIKE, not based on what the places tell you your shot is there. Big deal if you dont get your number one, i say that is just and ego thing. I was very entertained on all the posts when people were deciding rank lists that were talking about if they should put prog A above B b/c they think they have a good chance at A, but in reality liked B better.

Unfortunately, no, I am an Easterner not expecting to go West. But I was really impressed with the program, the residents and the place at my interview. I kept in touch with some of the guys after my interview in order to find out more, which nailed my decision. What about you?
I noticed that you and bonedoc2be are also hoping to be at WashU. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all three of us and for the rest of ya'll out there.

Well, if it were totally up to me, I would have ranked Beaumont No. 1 and Grand Rapids #2. The woman had some influence on the list. Both programs are sweet. You operate a ton, the residents and attendings are awesome, and they both offer a great lifestyle.
