so i just got the email from UVM that you have to have taken the step 2 by the beginning of feb in order to be rank/match at UVM. seems to me there are quite a few ortho applicants that don't plan on taking it til after that point, so doesn't this seem like something that a program would probably want to put on their website? i mean yeah, everyone will have taken it way before they start their internship, but to require it before they submit their rank list? anyone else see this as a bit goofy? perhaps i'm just not real excited about the thought of studying for step 2 on the interview trail....of course if all the rejections of the last few days are any indication, i should certainly have plenty of time.
just a little bit from the rumor mill. i was at an interview this weekend where some guys were talking about said issue- one of the guys said that the program got burned at some point in the past because one of their residents took it so late that it wasn't processed by the time he was to be one of their interns, or something like that.

anyway, the gist is that one of these same fellows had contacted the secretary already and told her that he had already scheduled his step II time for later and already bought a plane ticket to burlington. she told him not to worry about it, they just want to make sure that no one takes it in may again this year and puts them in a bind.

so i think its not as huge a deal as it seemed to be. that being said, i was already registered for step II early enough anyway, so not an issue for me.
