Sorry to ask for advice, but I'm a medical student interested in orthopedic surgery. I recently (5 weeks ago) had the Weaver-Dunn procedure on my right shoulder. I just finished my period of required immobility. I wanted some second opinions on how long I should wait before I can start lifting weights again. I am very athletically involved, including football, baseball, and weightlifting. How long should I wait before I start doing these things again? Also, will I ever be able to return to my previous abilities of lifting weights (i.e. 300+ lbs. deadlift)? If so, how long does it usually take for a 22 yr. old to recover fully from this surgery? What percentage, if any, of people return to normal activity after this surgery, and is the strength of the ligament in a shoulder post-Weaver-Dunn as strong as a natural shoulder? Thanks for your help.

Dude, most the people posting on this forum are still medical students, some are interns. Turst your orthopod, who has been through residency, and possibly fellowship already, regarding your rehabilitation.

"Captain! Maybe we ought to turn on the searchlights now."..."No! That's just what they'll be expecting us to do."

And then you had Elaine blowing up the deflated auto-pilot. That was the funniest scene in the whole damn movie.
