Hi everyone,
I'm a 3rd year med student right now wondering what I need to do to strengthen my application. I originally thought I was a strong candidate, but my chances seem to be taking a turn for the worse lately. Here's my info:
Step 1: 238
Research: minimal, just a literature review
Grades: Honors in most preclinicals, but HS in most clinicals with honors in just psych. I am not doing well with the shelf exams and they are killing my grades in clinicals, but otherwise I do really well with my actual clinical reviews.
AOA: unlikely, now that I'm not doing as well this year.
Aways: I plan on doing 2 in addition to my home rotation.
I plan on taking step 2 early and I will be taking a month at the beginning of 4th year to study and do research. I'm trying avidly to get in on a research project as soon as possible.
Do I still stand a good chance of matching? If not, what more can I do?
Thanks to any and all who help.
