People seem to do better on step 2 CK. So what is considered a competitive step 2 score? I was an idiot and released my step 2 CK score even though it was 7 points below my step 1. I think it is still OK, but I hate to show them that I went down. What are some ranges? is 240+ still really good, or does it rise to say 250+?

Thats just it man...you are clueless....do you really think that anyone, I mean ANYONE is looking at your scores for step 2 if you got 240+ on step 1? And then do you think there is a difference between a 240+ and a 250
+? You think they are going to take you or not take you based on the fact that you guessed just a little bit better than the guy who got a 230+?

Stop worrying about this stuff and start working on how to make a good impression and convince everyone that you will be a good DOCTOR, not a good test taker

wait a second sawbonz.. either i'm all smacked out or you wrote this a few months ago -

"Im sitting here trying to study for step 2 and I have lost all motivation....my application is in and I am waiting for interview offers. I have a pretty solid application and step 1 score, so i am not including my step 2 score.

I just feel like I need to study but I CANT

does it really matter how you do on step 2? Will fellowships care down the line?"

i'm going to get a 210 on step 2 and smile when i do.

don't apologize or be sorry, Pod, just because someone called you clueless just because you might be a little on the anal side. truth be told, we're all anal as hell. the only caveat is that we have to, at some point, admit it to ourselves.

Dude, that post was written long before interview season began. Now that the game is on, anyone whould be able to see that no program cares AT ALL about step 2. The reason that I found POD's post to be so funny is that it sort of mirrors a lot of what I have seen on the trail. 240 vs 250...you have got to be kidding me!

When I posted, I was talkin about passing! I said that I had a decent step 1, not 240 or 250 and I wanted to get a little bit of encouragement to slack off a bit..I was wonding if a 190 would hurt me in the future..I think it is also sort of funny how you went back and found my old post.....Actually, I think it is just about time to stop reading and posting in this forum. A lot of you guys are completely turning me off to this whole process.

Let me explain my reasoning. No one would argue that there is a HUGE difference between a 220 and a 230 on step 1. People generally do better on step 2 (at least from my observations), and I was wondering if there was that same score dynamic where a small increment is actually significant.

Actually, I think it is just about time to stop reading and posting in this forum. A lot of you guys are completely turning me off to this whole process.

The feeling is mutual. See ya, then.

I actually respect, and thank the posters who gave some support to an admittedly anxious future colleague. Everyone here has some insecurities about their application that they worry too much about. If you don't, DS, well congrats to you, you are the only perfect applicant out there. I hope I have the privilege of being an intern with you.

If I had a Step one in the 240's and dropped to ~230 on Step 2, with that score being available to ERAS, I'd be stressed too.

You're definitely not alone.

Hahaha...damn...I know I said I was going to stop....but this crap is just too funny.....aaaaaahahahahaha.....stress....some of you guys are just makin me laugh out loud! OMG, I am in the 88th percentile instead of the 91st percentile! What ever am I going to do! Dont you guys realize that life (especially life in medicine or the OR) is not about MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS??

Once you guys get interviews, nobody is goin back and referring to a step 2 score to make up a rank list....

I can understand someone worrying if they dropped a few points. It has nothing to do with being rational. We're an anal group. If you haven't been feeling stressed about anything during this process, I want your autograph.

I got a 232 on Step 1 and a 216 on Step 2 and I got asked about it by at least one interviewer on EVERY SINGLE interview I went on after it got released. So it does make a difference.

Your naivety about the capability of a low Step 2 score hurting you makes me laugh....aaaaaaahahahahahaha. Life may be about more than multiple choice questions, but passing the OITE isn't. And ALL ortho programs want to make sure you can pass your boards.

Well that is a legit worry....most of these guys are asking if it matters that they dropped from a 238 to a 234.....

So why did you release that score?
