I interviewed at both programs and did an away at the GR program. GR is a great program in a nice, clean, safe city. Heavy trauma, although you might not expect it. Virtually all blunt trauma with the rare penetrating. All services are covered well. The attendings are great and the residents are a good group. They take care of the residents in terms of benefits, and lead, loupes, food, etc. The graduates have no trouble getting great fellowships. This program does not have to go past their top few to fill their five positions, so they only interview around 35 to fill their spots. I don't know a ton about Wright State. But, I think that one of the worst things about this program is that two of their four spots are 6yr research tracks and you don't know which of the four interns will go this route until after the match. I believe that if the residents cant sort this out, it is up to the program powers that be (I could be wrong about how this works, just sayin'). The residents seemed nice and the hospital was decent. However, Dayton Ohio was not that appealing. That being said, the residents seemed happy to be there and were happy with the education that they were receiving. One thing that they all did stress was that they had a wide trauma catchment.
