Summary:
We are seeking a medical student with plans to apply for an Orthopaedic Surgery residency to take a step out research year as a research coordinator within the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement (ARJR) Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). The position will entail working directly with Dr. Brian Chalmers and Dr. Elizabeth Gausden.

Their research is focused on hip and knee arthroplasty outcomes and complications. The research coordinator position has been very productive for past students whom they have worked with, with the opportunity to add to your CV upwards of 20 publications.

Experience

  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic terminology is preferred
  • Proficient use of computers and software, with working knowledge of the following is strongly desired:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • EMR (preferably EPIC)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead or coauthor manuscripts and presentations
  • Drafting and submitting IRB proposals
  • Perform literature reviews, develop research hypotheses, and formulate research protocols
  • Scheduling and conducting study related visits
  • Data collection and management
