Montefiore Einstein Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Research Fellowship (POSITION FILLED)
The Montefiore Einstein Pediatric Orthopedic Research Fellowship offers a unique experience for highly motivated medical students seeking a career in orthopedic surgery. This one-year, full-time position is based in the Division of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore Einstein and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, a leading institution in pediatric orthopedic care and research. Fellows are integral members of the research team, contributing to groundbreaking studies while gaining exposure to clinical and surgical environments.Program Highlights
  • Research:  Fellows collaborate on multiple prospective and retrospective clinical research projects addressing critical topics in pediatric orthopedics, such as sports medicine, spine, deformity correction, hip disorders, and patient-reported outcomes. The fellow will gain experience in study design, identifying very specific clinical data needed for collection, performing analyses, and producing high-quality manuscripts with support from Principal Investigators (PIs), biostatisticians, and experienced research staff. There are currently over 20 ongoing studies, and involvement in multicenter research is also available.
  • Clinical Experience: Fellows gain clinical exposure in outpatient clinics, where they are provided the opportunity to interview patients and administer patient-reported outcome surveys. Opportunities to observe in the operating room are available, providing insight into surgical techniques and decision-making to ensure adequate preparation for away rotations.
  • Mentorship: As a research fellow, you experience close mentorship from pediatric orthopedic surgeons who provide guidance for research projects and career advising. The fellow will work directly under the mentorship of Leila Alvandi PhD, Eric D. Fornari, M.D. and other members of the Pediatric Orthopedic Division.
