Position: Orthopaedic Trauma Research Fellow
Positions: 2
Years: 1-2 depending on applicant’s goals

Salary: $52,000.00 (with health benefits)
Eligibility: Any U.S. medical student or graduate.

Research Fellowship Position Available with Dr. Arun Aneja, MD, PhD
Dr. Arun Aneja, at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking two highly motivated medical students (M1-M3) or unmatched M4 students/graduates, who are interested in pursuing clinical research fellowships in orthopaedic trauma surgery. Dr. Aneja is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his PhD and is fellowship-trained in both orthopaedic trauma and oncology. He specializes in the inflammatory response to trauma and its role in patient outcomes and open fracture management. These positions will also allow the applicants to work with residents, fellows, research faculty, and clinical faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital. Research fellows should expect multiple publications and an enhanced competitive resume for the Orthopaedic Surgery match. Research fellows are highly encouraged to attend all orthopedic lectures, resident education, journal clubs, and Grand Rounds.

The positions will begin as soon as possible starting in May 2024. Applicants will be given the option to remain in this role for 1-2 years. The duration of this commitment will be discussed in further detail during the interview process to determine the applicant’s goals and strive to meet their needs.

Job Duties:
1. Hands-on experience collecting patient outcome data in both the clinical setting and via chart review.
2. Collection of biospecimen data for associated research protocols.
3. Submission and management of Institutional Review Board (IRB)  protocol.
4. Assist the research coordinators and research faculty on clinical projects in the department.5. Assist with the regulatory management of several large federally funded studies, including but not limited to budgetary management, correspondence, and quarterly/annual report submissions.
6. Participate in drafting (writing), editing, or submitting projects including abstracts, manuscripts, grants, and patents.

Qualifications:
1. A background in musculoskeletal disorders with a desire to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery
2. Strong organizational and computer skills
3. Good oral and written communication skills
4. Independent and efficient worker within a team setting
5. Strong scholastic performance
6. Statistical experience is preferred but not required
