The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York is inviting 4th year medical students interested in a career in orthopedic surgery to apply to a two-year funded position as a research fellow starting July 1, 2025 to May 30, 2027. 

The research fellow will work in close conjunction with Chairman, Dr. Jack Choueka, Residency Program Director, Dr. Afshin Razi, and other Orthopedic faculty at Maimonides Medical Center. 

The fellow will be responsible for managing multiple IRB projects encompassing clinical, biomechanical, and imaging based studies. Basic understanding of statistical analysis is expected, and the department will provide the necessary training for the position.  

The fellow will be given the opportunity to attend daily educational conferences with the orthopaedic surgery residents, cadaver labs, and continue to expand their clinical acumen by shadowing and observing attendings and residents within the clinical setting. 

 Prerequisites for the Position Include:
- Successful completion from a U.S. Medical School
- Strong academic record
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
- Strong skills in various computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, EMR, PACS, and other software.
- Prior experience with data analyses 

Goals:
- Fellow should expect to have 20 to 25 publications by the end of the fellowship with upwards of 25 abstracts accepted at major conferences.
-Fellows will have the opportunity to be 1st author on papers he/she contributes to.
- Ample opportunities to attend cadaver labs, Orthopedic conferences, Orthopedic grand rounds, and journal clubs.
