The Division of Foot & Ankle Surgery invites third- and fourth-year medical students or medical school graduates to apply for a one- or two-year clinical research position, under the direction of Dr. John Kennedy. This will be a paid research position. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to strengthen an application for the orthopedic surgery residency match. All of Dr. Kennedy’s previous research fellows have matched into a residency, and he will assist throughout the match process.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- study recruitment;
- scheduling and conducting study related visits;
- data collection and management;
- attending research meetings, and;
- participation in educational, research and other activities related to foot & ankle surgery.
- manuscript writing and submission
- data analysis

Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- outstanding organizational and time-management skills;
- excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop solid rapport with others;
- excellent oral and written skills with the ability to write and conduct daily communications;
- self-motivated, proactive learner;
- ability to collaborate with a variety of investigators and individuals;
- basic knowledge of statistics, data collection and management;
- familiarity with computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel;
- ability to represent the NYU Langone Medical Center, internally and externally, in a professional and positive manner.

Benefits to the Fellow:
- the fellow should expect to have 15 publications by the end of the research year;
- the fellow should expect abstract acceptance at major national and international orthopedic conferences, including AAOS, AOFAS, AOSSM and AANA;
- collaboration with Fellows, and Orthopedic residents;
- opportunities to attend Orthopedics Grand Rounds, Division Conferences, Journal Clubs;
- opportunities to present research and network at Orthopedic Conferences;
- opportunity to audit courses related to clinical research duties and data analysis skills at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
