Hey OrthoGate,

I know this question has been discussed at times in the past, but there has been much flux recently in terms of staff between programs. I am trying to decide on a West Coast away, and obviously the reviews that people post after they Match will be helpful, but I am trying to decide before that happens because of time constrains of my medical school that I don't want to get into. I'm looking for a well-balanced academic program with good didactics and a great research infrastructure. Can people shed any light on the programs below based on what they know about them? I would love if some people who interviewed at these this cycle could chime in even though they don't find out about the match for a while. In no order, these are the programs I am currently looking into.

UCSF
UCLA
Stanford
UCSD
USC

Thanks so much! I appreciate any and all insight anyone can provide.
All of these programs fit your general requirements. Without providing any stats or further desired program characteristics it is hard to make any personal recommendations. It also depends where you want to live, and how much you value good lifestyle. UCSF and UCLA are likely the most competitive programs to get into. UCSD is mandatory 6 years. USC has the hardest lifestyle, and UCLA probably has the best. Stanford is located in suburbia, and the rest are urban.
