2026-27 Medical University of South Carolina Orthopaedic Surgery Research Fellowship

The Medical University of South Carolina Department of Orthopaedic Surgery invites 3rd and 4th year US medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery to apply for a one-year orthopaedic surgery research fellowship. MUSC Ortho has five orthopaedic surgery residency training positions and is interested in taking competitive applicants to the next level to facilitate a top tier match including here at MUSC. We are seeking candidates that are willing to take a year off between their 3rd and 4th year, and who demonstrate determination, grit, problem solving, an interest in orthopaedic research, and an outstanding work ethic. Preference is for US medical students with a 250 step 2 score.

It is my personal goal to have the research fellow publish 100+ manuscripts resulting from the fellow's research year. The current research fellow is on track for this output. We have access to multiple databases (e.g., HCUP, NSQIP, TriNetX) to maximize the research fellow's productivity. High work ethic and previous clinical research experience is highly valued. Previous experience with or quick ability to learn statistical program (e.g., R, STATA, SAS) is a must have.
