Well, did ya?

I think this thread will help reassure a lot of people this year and more importantly, next year.
I think it's also important to remember that contributors to this forum tend to be above average candidates, which might skew this poll. For example, the plurality of respondents in a previous poll said they were ranking 15+ programs.

Not necessarily true, I had below ave boards (220s), not in top 25% of my class, and only 1 publication. 15 interview requests... some good places, some not. Received personal phone calls from 3 places.

well that doesn't make me feel better. I didn't receive a single email or phone call.

I wonder if it's a regional thing. Like, I mostly applied to east coast.. I'm wondering if the east coast (north) do not do that, and others are more prone to doing it??

Last year only 23% of applicants ranked 15+ programs (according to Charting Outcomes), compared with 43% on the poll in this forum. I'm not saying that this necessarily means anything (especially since the sample size here is miniscule), but in my past couple years lurking around this forum it seems as though the most active participants are generally pretty strong candidates.

Also, I received a couple phone calls from a program last year and still did not match. I think everybody should keep their heads up and do some self-medicating for the next couple of weeks. I find that shots of Jack work pretty well.

Well... I didn't get any calls, and I just ran out of Jack last night. I guess it's time to start thinking about a PMR scramble... haha. Seriously though, almost no one I talked to got phone calls - and a few got an e-mail or two. The majority of us will match, so don't freak too much about it either way guys.

I'm glad for this forum and this particular subject to help me chill out. I also didn't receive any calls or emails despite having had 12 interview offers, made 11. I'm just glad to know I am not a minority in this respect. After speaking to several great ortho applicants from my school I think receiving calls or emails is not as common anymore. Propranolol anyone?
