Med School: Hi-powered, big name, academic in Midwest
Step I: 228
Step II: 245 (took at end of Jan, so not a factor)
Research/publications: Yes, research. Nothing published in
Ortho. G-surg case report still brewing from 3rd year.
Junior AOA: Not at my school.
3rd year grades: Honors: G-surg, Peds. Commendable (hi
-pass) in everything else.
4th year ortho A.I.s: CWRU-honors, Mayo-honors, CCF-
honors.
AOA: No
Applied to: 60 programs, all ortho. All over the country
(mostly midwest).
Interview offers: 16
Interviews taken: 12 (CWRU, CCF, Harvard, Mayo, Cincinnatti,
Kentucky, MSU-kalamazoo, Henry Ford, Howard,
Toledo, Indiana, and Loyola)
Declined (4): UT Southwestern, USC, Louisville, Albany (all
declined because of scheduling conflicts).
Matched: CWRU - No. 1 choice.

pretty good letters, including my best one which was from a pediatrician (got to read the letters on several interviews)
interviewed at wash u, mayo, UK-kansas city, UK wichita, kentucky, kalamazoo, wright state, indiana, slu, missouri, umkc (mistake!), west virginia, SLU, cincinnati.
had to turn down southern illinois b/c of scheduling
Did aways at kalamazoo and west virginia
matched at kalamazoo

good luck to all next year. as you can see, i really got to see the country and get a sense of what a bunch of different programs were like. i also got to flex my credit cards while having fun with all of the awesome people i met along the way (perry osteum, afortho, etc..)! when it was all said and done, i matched at a program that is awesome and that i know well. can't wait to start!!
