Dr. Wellington Hsu invites rising fourth-year medical students and medical graduates to apply for a year-long research fellowship in the spine division of the Northwestern Feinberg Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Students will gain experience in basic science and clinical research. Research fellows manage various research projects, prepare abstracts, contribute to papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals, give poster and podium presentations at numerous spine conferences throughout the year. You will have the opportunity to interact with residents and attendings at regularly scheduled research meetings, contribute to resident projects, write review articles and book chapters. The research fellow must be highly organized, driven, proactive, and have excellent communication skills. Dr. Hsu will also help you with with preparation for fourth year, including planning rotations, personal statement writing, and interview skills. The year-long position offers students the opportunity to work with an incredible mentor and gain insight into the spine field and orthopedics in an academic setting.
