I've been searching for info on both USC and Baylor...I've been offered an interview from both on the same day and need to pick one. Can anyone tell me about the malignancy, didactics, etc of both programs? Also, what's the ethnic diversity like in houston? I've never even been to texas before so I dunno much about the city.

first of all... sweet on getting invites from both of those!

I worked with a guy that was at baylor (he was a psych attending)... he loved the city and told me that if I was single... it was a town for me.

Not single, but i applied b/c i heard it is a great program.

everyone knows USC is the most malignant program in cali... (probably the entire region of the country west of the rockies). as someone pointed out earlier, an outsider is really competing for a couple of spots in USC with most going to USC kids and rotators. Anyone else got any other info? Heard great things about Baylor, I'll be seeing you there CollesFx!

I've got orthoriders back on this one. Did an elective with a future orthopod from USC and he couldn't believe the attendings weren't yelling at us and making us feel like friggin idiots, it was all he knew and sadly, like the man in Shawshank Redemption, couldn't survive outside of it. Anyway, malignant is as maligant does, or something. :roll smile:

This is just heresay but it came from a University of Texas/Southwestern student at an interview last Friday. He said the program had really declined since the interim chairman has been there the past 3 years. He even said that the residents were down on the program and not happy with it. I was surprised since I had thought Baylor was a top notch program.

I have heard the same negative things said about Baylor; while they have some of the best resources (i.e. hospitals) in Texas, the current leadership in the program is lacking. And Ben Taub sucks.
