I rotated at tufts and felt it was an excellent experience. They work on more of a mentorship basis so you get three month blocks of a lot of 1 on 1. Which is great if you love your attending but obviously the converse is true also. Call schedule is great. No research which i did not like but a lot of others may. Overall I think it is pretty cush....the review on scutwork is pretty much right on.
As far as BU I only know that it is an excellent place for trauma. the guys at tufts said they felt pretty bad becuase they thought the BU residents were overworked but that may have changed with the work hours. I did interview there and it definately had more research going on than tufts and the residents said they were happy. I felt like this was my toughest interview though...the attendings i met really liked to put you on the spot and never gave a reaction to your answers...for the most part I felt they were disinterested...maybe my board scores weren't high enough for them to actually listen to my answers to their questions I don't know...although there was one room where i felt they were truly trying to get to know me but it was the room with the guys in private practice that were more loosely affiliated with the program. anyway thats just my two cents on the programs.
I ranked tufts higher. However, had I felt like i fit better with the attendings at bu I probably would have ranked it ahead because it does have the trauma experience, research, and big name attendings but once i got there i just new it didn't fit for me.
