Who: US medical students between M2/M3 or M3/M4 who have an interest in orthopaedic surgery and/or sports medicine. Unmatched medical students and students who are applying to medical school may also be considered.
Where: Columbia Orthopaedic Group, Columbia, Missouri.
When: Beginning April 2022.
Salary: Fully Funded; Based on Experience.
Dr Patrick Smith is looking for those who have an interest in orthopedic surgery and/or sports medicine to apply for a paid clinical research position starting in April 2022 in Columbia, Missouri. Responsibilities:
Write and prepare manuscripts, presentations, educational material
Conducting study procedures for orthopaedic and sports medicine clinical trials, including assisting with study start-up, assisting with study site staff training, patient medical chart review, assisting with patient recruitment, educating and consenting patients, and assisting with patient follow-up visits
Primary contact with IRB staff, including submission, continuing review and study protocol amendments
Tracking and reporting on the progress of sponsor funded clinical research studies as well as providing essential documents to study sponsors
Enrolling and following patients for an electronic outcomes database; currently with more than 800 patients enrolled
Applicant Attributes:
Interest in orthopedic surgery and/or sports medicine with experience in clinical research
Working knowledge of FDA, ICH GCP, NIH guidelines
Experience with scientific writing and AMA style guidelines
Familiarity with common medical databases and search engines (PubMed, MEDLINE, etc.)
Extremely organized and have strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently when needed
