If you're planning on doing a rotation at a harvard hospital, I would do it at MGH. The rotation is set so that you do 2 weeks on the trauma team, most of which is with the Chief residents. You have opportunities to scrub in with the 2 trauma attendings (Smith, Vrahas), but while they are both respected in thier fields, they are unfortunately not on the residency selection committee. This is a good oppurtunity to get in good with the residents, which never hurts.
For the remainder of the rotation you get to choose two of the specialty services to do for one week each. You must do Joints for one of the weeks because that is where all the heavy hitters are. Rubash (chairman), Tomford, and Burke are all on the committe and have big pull. The other week is not so clear cut. Jupiter in hand and Warner in shoulder are big names but I don't believe either is on the committee and they usually have can entourage of foreign observers and fellows so you could get lost in the crowd. Tom Gill on the shoulder/sports service is a good guy and just recently joined the committee. He is also the course director so it would be a good idea to hang out with him. Spine guys are fun but little pull. Tumor guys are not so fun and I'm not really sure how much pull they have anymore since Mankin and Rubash don't get along, and Rubash is calling the shots now.
That's all I can think of right now about the harvard rotation. If anyone has any info about HSS I would also appreciate some advice.

Anyone have the following info on Harvard (I already looked at the other Harvard posts and couldn't find answers to the following questions):
1. Do they provide a pager for the month elective?
2. I'm trying to figure out my living situation there for the month, any idea on what time you usually round/preround in the morning if it all? Apparently the T doesn't start running till 5:30 am
3. Avg. board scores for people that match there?
4. Does doing a rotation there increase your chances of interviewing/matching by a good ammount (i.e., Northwestern)?
5. Does anyone from a middle of the road state school institution (likely non-AOA) have a chance at matching there...speaking of matching there, how far down do they go on their rank list?
6. Was it pretty easy to get a letter from the chief while on trauma for two weeks?
7. Any other info on the logistics of the elective would be appreciate.
8. Any suggestions on how to get this info would be cool, other than just randomly e-mailing a resident.

**Debating whether to stay up to watch the US/Germany game or get some sleep so I can be fresh for the OR**
