# of interviews

i have heard that an applicant needs 9 to 10 interviews in order to be "safe" in securing a residency spot.
how true is this? is this still pretty early in the game since i still haven't heard from a large majority of the
programs i applied to? thanks for any input.

Still early...

I hear that, statistically speaking, 6 interviews will let you match comfortably at 1 place; 9 interviews will
almost guarantee you a match at 1 place; and 12 interviews will let you "pick and choose."

Of course, I have heard of people with 15 interviews who did not match, and those with 4-5 interviews
who matched at great places. But 9 interviews is a "comfortable" number, from what I hear.

I think it's still early in the game for interviews (depending on what part of country you from).
