I am an International Medical Graduate (IMG) applying for orthopedic surgery programs. My usmle scores
step1 - 245(99) : step 2 - 234 (94) ecfmg certified. honors in general surgery , orthopedics, internal medicine and pediatrics in medical school. ranked # 1 in class of 100 in med school. I worked as an intern in orthopedics for 6 months after my medical school. receipient of best student in medicine award from the university in the home country. currently doing masters in public health in umass, amherst. no publications and nil research.
what are the chances of imgs getting a orthopedic surgery residency position?
i completely understand that its very tough for an img to get in to orthopedics, still i want to give my best shot for my dream.
i need h1 or j1 visa to do my residency.
does anyone know any img who got into orthopedic surgery residency?
what will be my chances for 2005 match if I do preliminary surgery for an year and apply for the next match?
any input would be really appreciated.
