In the July 2006 - June 2007 Academic Year, we began offering a one year junior level orthopaedic trauma fellowship position. This position is outside our residency program and the fellow is an employee of the hospital. No residency training credit will accrue. It involves clinical activities similar in scope to that of a junior level orthopaedic resident on a trauma service with some opportunity for clinical research. The fellow will spend 12 months on the fracture service at Mercy – St. Louis Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center affiliated with our program. The experience is intended to significantly improve the CV of a prospective applicant for orthopaedic surgery residency training without utilizing GME PGY financial eligibility. We offer two of these positions each year. This program has proven successful for a number of our fellows, including both from the last two years and one this year. Anyone interested in this type of position should contact me after the match via the e-mail address listed below, including an updated CV, which includes your performance (raw score, not percentile) on all steps of the USMLE. If you applied to our residency program this year, we will have access to your ERAS application. Otherwise, if a recently completed ERAS application is available, this should be sent along, either via e-mail or Fax (314-268-5121). The preferred candidate will have completed one year of post-graduate training (either preliminary or surgical PGY1) by July 1, 2016. However, all graduates of an approved US medical school, including (new this year) Osteopathic Medical Graduates, will be considered. We will begin offering interviews and positions following the release of this year’s match results.

Please note: International Medical Graduates are not eligible for this position.
