I understand that it is quite difficult to break into the chicago scene, which is why I intend to do an away rotation at one of the chicago programs. Could someone talk about the overall features of rush and northwestern, personal experiences, etc.? Or if someone has had an amazing or horrible experience at another chicago program, any and all information would be helpful. thanks, and best of luck to the 4th years this week!

I rotated at rush and enjoyed it. The residents are great...schedule is pretty much typical ortho...if you are on joints service you will get more exposure to residents and attendings and will work your butt off....I did peds/tumor (very cool attendings) and also helped out when joints was swamped so I could meet more people but I definately had time to check out the city while I was there...as far as needing to do a rotation there to get an interview that is not a pre-req however they do interview all of the rotators on one day (out of three total) and a majority of the residents did rotations there but again it is NOT a requirement as there were residents there who did not rotate...Overall great experience...will post more comprehensively here or on scutwork later...
