Hello all, as an OSU resident I was looking for input from those who interviewed with us (all interviews are done now) in how we can make the interview day better. What did you like? What didn't you like? We try to make it as painless as possible and as many residents as possible try to be there both on interview days and at the get-together the night before. Any input would be appreciated and please note that our ranking has already been done and I have no say in it so feel free to be as open and honest as you can. Thanks.

This was by far the best orchestrated interview I have attended. You guys made great use of the time and I felt that you gave us very useful info. The slide show was funny and the chairman was very nice and actively conversed with the applicants.
The tour of colombus was a nice touch....this was not done on any other interviews. I was impressed with colombus.
The interviews were benign and it seemed like the faculty had prepared for us....which I find comforting.
Overall, the interview day definately increased my opinion of the program.
The residents were all friendly and very willing to help the applicants out in any way.
Thanks. I enjoyed interviewing at "The Ohio State"

Ohio State faculty/students were just informed today via email that Dr. Bos is stepping down as Chairman of Orthopaedics at Ohio State. Pretty shocked right now to be honest.

we just learned about this on Thursday Jan 12th. He is not leaving the University but will be devoting more time to resident education. He has been the residency coordinator as well as chairman the whole time he's been here and I think it got to be too much especially from the bureaucracy. We are a little bit shocked that it happened so suddenly. He is currently out of town and won't be back until next week so I don't have any more details but I don't think things will change much. It can take a while for a new chairman to be hired and start and then even longer for them to implement any changes that they see fit. I believe part of the goal is to hire a "national" name who can then recruit big-time people to come here. The university certainly has the money to support that and that is the route they've taken in other departments recently.
