Phone call from U Penn???

Maybe he likes you in that "special" way. One of two things as far as I can see. One, you lied on your app and he caught you so now he wants to blackball you. Two, he likes you so much he wants to offer you a spot outside of the NRMP match. Hopefully its the latter or perhaps neither. Keep us updated bro!

i got a call like that from the program director at San Francisco, but then i heard the alarm clock and promptly woke up...

For what it is worth, my husband is a Penn student... and Barb is the residency coordinator for ortho and Lackman is indeed the chair... so at least it is legit. I have NO clue why they would be calling. Very interesting. Penn has given interview dates to their own candidates but not external ones yet... so maybe you will be the first! :tongue:

Thanks for the input guys. I'm anxiously awaiting Monday morning when I can call. Everyone I talk to seems to think it is probably a good thing, I just can't imagine what. But, we'll see soon enough... :smokin:

I think it's really funny how orthodreamer is so quick in coming to this forum and asking for help and advice... pique all of our interests (and at the same time trying to consciously or subconsciously show off "oooh, oooh, UPENN called me personally!") and now is keeping us in the dark about it.

He or she will probably reply to this message with the excuse that she hasn't checked the posts on this forum for the last couple of days.

Sheesh...it's like being in the middle of a pack of wolves or something. I'm sure orthodreamer will post once he/she finds out exactly wassup with the call. I think we're all just anxious about inteviews in general and will snap at anything right now...also, not everyone's checking this board if they're out of town for thanksgiving or something.

Has anybody read "Misrepresentation of Research by Orthopaedic Residency Applicants" published in JBJS, December 1999? I'm not saying thats the case. However, how many times have you heard of someone getting a call from the chair prior to interview? I'm not trying to start any trouble. I hope he responds with good news.

First of all, sorry for the delayed response, but as CollesFx suggested, I am out of town for Thanksgiving and not checking this board daily. I thank you Colles for coming to my defense.
Second, you guys all need to chill out and relax a little. I was not intending to "show off" as stated, I was truly wondering if anyone else had received this strange call.
Third, it was only a question for clarification of something on my application that had not been finalized at the time I submitted ERAS.
Sorry for peaking all of your interests like that, I guess it was no big deal after all.

i got your back orthodreamer. it is amazing how this process can somehow transform otherwise laid-back decent people into up-tight, shoot-my-mom-if-it-will-get-me-a-spot suck-ups.

I think you guys are reading too much into comments posted on this forum. I don't think that anybody was acting up tight or on the verge of shooting there mom. I also that think before you start accusing people of this, you should look into your own transference/countertransference issues.
