hey all...i was wondering how possible it is for me to apply for ortho next year (I just matched for transitional year and pm&r). I will, of course, have to break the news to the pm&r program. The transitional program i will be attending does not have an ortho residency. I have a strong ortho background, however.

I saw a guy do it. He worked 120 hour weeks. He would finish his preliminary year duties and then walk around the ORs looking for ortho cases and ask if anyone needed help. lot of work, but I am sure if you ask him he will say it was well worth it. good luck

i remember reading some posts about this on here. use the search engine and keep putting in key words like switching residency. i think everybody has a "i knew a guy" story. i like to believe anything is possible w/ a lot of hard work. i think a lot of people would also tell you to make really nice w/ your home program so that there is no bad blood and you can get some letters. but i think it's all in the old posts. good luck
