Bigfeet, I can only offer a few words on UNC as I matched there; don't begin until late June but did a month sub-I there. Overall, I think the program is quality academic training with a good lifestyle in a nice part of country. The program is 4 residents/year (1 spot is 6 year research) with early operative experience, good # elective cases and not overloaded with repetitive trauma. This has left UNC in good position to comply with 80 hr rules and in my month there this was the case. I found the didactic/lecture series each AM to be best of programs I rotated at. Good resources and support seemed to be in place for research. All specialties, incl. tumor, represented but did lose several faculty to private practice recently. Unfortunatley, this instability existed at most places I interviewed. UNC has a good rep and with very desirable location should recruit well. The chapel hill/durham/raleigh triangle is great place to live; 2 hours to beach and mountains, good weather, affordable cost of living, great college athletics (although hate of Heels and Dukies borders on religion where I'm from), and great opportunities for spouses/sig. other. In my case, couples matching, spouse's program at UNC was also strong and that helped in choice. This is pretty general stuff, hope any of it helped. If anyone needs place to crash on away at UNC, give a word as such offer was extended to me. Good Luck
