I'll be taking a good look at anybody who offers me an interview, but...

1.) Any reason the list changed from first post to second post ?

2.) Any basis for this, is this personal opinion, gut feeling from previous interviews, a poll of current and future orthopedists.....or was it a randomized, double-blinded, placebo controlled trial ?

Just curious, not for or against the list.....

Wouldn't call Pittsburgh, Rush, Wash U, Case, Rochester -> Sleepers. Unless of course you're unfamiliar with Ortho programs at all. They're well known among thoe ortho community as being excellent programs.

Agree with Overrated programs except don't think Penn belongs on either list.

I second osteosynthesfragen's thought on sleeper programs. Those are probably some of the best academic programs in the country. I applied to all of them knowing that they were great progams.

I would probably agree with the overrated programs too. Their name is good and their residents get great fellowships afterwards, I guess the question is about their operative experience as residents. However, that's not to say that they're not very good programs and that you'll be a good surgeon coming out. It's just about how they stack up to other "top" programs.

i would have to agree....those programs are hardly sleepers....if you want to talk about underrated sleepers, i would throw around such programs as carolinas medical center or allegheny general hospital in pittsburgh.....

What constitutes a sleeper/underrated program vs. an overrated program? Moreover I think that whether one likes the program is highly dependent upon the individual rather than broad generalizations. That being said, in the overrated category, I have to disagree and say that I was very impressed with the strength of both HJD and Penn on the interview trail.
