The importance of doing aways is discussed multiple times in previous threads. Do a search. I know some people do 2 week rotations at places, don't know how good this is though, maybe someone else can comment. I suggest you just look into places that you are interested in rotating at, and then put in some work and contact the programs and find out whether they let you do 2 or 3 week rotations. In terms of doing more aways, I only got credit for one of my 2 aways (4weeks each). Had to use a vacation month for the other. Just had to suck it up and realize that I wouldn't have as much vacation as my medicine colleagues.
