At the risk of sounding like a tool...
I am not one of those students who have known they wanted to do ortho forever. In fact, I just recently
decided to pursue Ortho at the end of my third year. Anyway, I am worried about my Step I board score holding me back. I did less than
stellar-217. I am hoping to nail Step II this summer. What I do having going for me is Junior AOA, but from a
middle tier med school. I am co-author on two non-ortho published research articles in highly reputable peer-
reviewed journals. I hope I can get strong letters but who knows how strong they are until you are interviewing?
I appreciate any advice---is ortho just a pipe dream for someone like me? Thanks.

I say you should go for it but apply to a crap load of programs. Also, take step II super early and rock it! Do aways at realistic places and work your ass off while there so they notice you. Junior AOA is great and it should help you! Good luck...
