Dude, I don't know, but it seemed like every resident at every program I talked to said that their program had been their number one choice. Maybe people fib about it or you just selectively hear from the ones who actually got their first choice.

"How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?"

Both are unknown and irrelevant, and nobody will ever know for sure... but if you're asking for guesses, I'd go with the ubiquitous "15-25%" (of all those who match)

Great thread. Anyone want to endorse their #1 program by briefly saying why they are ranking it 1? What strengths stood out to you?

WashU. Hands down best program in the country (for me). Incredible amount of focus and effort on the residency, not a secondary priority like many other top programs.

Colorado- location, volume, expanding program with strong operative experience. DH trauma experience arguably among the best in the country.

Mayo #1 because it is a top academic ortho hospital. Opportunities here are endless. Great and balanced operative experience staring right away 2nd yr. 1-on-1 mentorship from leaders in the field. Top of the game in research and didactics. Mayo system, people, and experince is unparalleled. Great residents. Location not right for everyone but great for my family.

Really hoping to match here.

f/u from my previous post

I rotated at different programs in east coast, chicago, and southeast
I even interviewed at big names like cleveland clinic but I think Penn state was definitely the one with extremely well balance of operative/clinical/didactic experience. Attendings are all from big names and all the residents get excellent fellowships.
I even heard from a non-biased source that penn state's residency program is "best in PA, even better than UPenn" so I ended up ranking Penn State #1 and Cleveland Clinic #2.
