We're excited to extend this invitation to medical school graduates who are eager to immerse themselves in a 1-2 year salaried clinical research fellowship at Ochsner-Andrews Sports Medicine Institute in Baton Rouge, LA. The current research fellow has been extremely productive with multiple published papers, 10 pending peer-reviewed publications, and over 15 accepted conference presentations.
The research fellowship program is designed to provide candidates with invaluable experience in Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine research while enhancing their competitiveness for residency applications. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, sports physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning experts on cutting edge clinical research projects.
You'll experience the support of collaboration with researchers throughout the Ochsner system and be able to leverage our partnership with the Andrews Institute. As a research fellow at the Ochsner-Andrews Sports Medicine Institute, you'll be responsible for:
- Coordinating and managing research projects
- Working with our clinical research coordinators and attending physicians to draft IRB protocols
- Collaborating with clinical and research staff, including biostatisticians on data collection and statistical analyses
- Preparing abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and book chapters
- Video and Multimedial Presentations and Submissions
We're seeking candidates with a strong passion for orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine, a demonstrated interest in research, a good academic record, and preferably, prior research experience. You will have strong support from our research infrastructure including clinical research coordinators, research data coordinators, a streamlined IRB process, a unified electronic medical record and integrated patient reported outcomes captured for all ortho and sports medicine patients.
Our new sports medicine facility includes biodex testing, a 3D markerless motion capture lab, flush mounted force plates, blood flow restriction, a recovery suite, and more. We have over 20 active sports medicine research projects currently, with more coming online. Our research fellows can expect numerous publication opportunities, with an emphasis on producing 10+ abstracts, journal articles, or book chapters annually. You'll also have the chance to present your work at regional and national meetings, further enhancing your competitiveness for orthopaedic surgery residency programs, and building meaningful connections with our team at the Ochsner-Andrews Sports Medicine Institute.
