HotThe Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute has an opening in our fellowship program and is accepting applications for a shoulder and elbow fellowship position, available from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016. Interested applicants should submit inquiries and CVs to Jonathan Levy MD, Fellowship Director,
The Shoulder & Elbow fellowship at the Holy Cross Orthopaedic Institute provides exposure to a high volume community-based employed physician practice exclusive to shoulder and elbow surgery. The Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute has been a regional leader in orthopedics and innovation for over 25 years. Each year, the shoulder and elbow fellow will participate in over 500 surgical procedures, with a high volume (over 200) of primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty, advanced shoulder & elbow arthroscopy, open shoulder reconstruction, shoulder & elbow fracture management, elbow ligament repair/reconstruction, and elbow arthroplasty.
There are typically two surgical days and two and one half days of office hours. A half day is set aside for research and conferences. The office setting will prepare the fellow with the key diagnostic tools needed to evaluate and treat all aspects of shoulder and elbow pathology – including diagnostic and therapeutic in-office ultrasound. The experience in the office will give excellent exposure to critical aspects of practice management including proper documentation and coding skills.
Together with the 6 member research staff at the Holy Cross Research Institute, the fellow will be expected to participate in active clinical research. The fellow will be encouraged to complete at least two clinical research projects and take ER call at Holy Cross Hospital together with a physician assistant (typically 2-3 times per month).
