I am preparing six manuscripts which will be submitted soon for publication with JBJS and Journal of Arthroplasty. But in CAF (Common Application Form) in ERAS there is no option to put the manuscripts which are in preparation. Should I add these as submitted and and Add "TO BE SUBMITTED SOON IN JBJS" in article space.
Any input in this matter will be highly appreciated.
I addressed this message to Dr Levine as he is one who reply radically and most of the times but anybody is welcome to reply.
Definitely highlight your articles which are in the pipeline and indicate whether they are "in press" or "submitted". You need not receive credit for your hard work only if it is already published - we all understand the difficulty for a medical student to publish an article - there are a tremendous number of obstacles in the way.
Hope this helps and good luck
Thank you for your reply. But none of my manuscripts have been submitted or in press yet as I am preparing all of them but soon will be ready for submitting. Also there is no option for adding publications or manuscripts in preparation in the residency application. I have the titles and author list for all of them. So my concern is that showing the manuscripts to be already "SUBMITTED" when indeed they are not, is okay or not if I add "TO BE SUBMITTED SOON" with title. I know you are very understanding for our situations. But I am not sure of other program directors.
Along those lines, if we were responsible for the leg-work on writing up an IRB proposal to begin prospective banking of bone/soft tissue tumors for microarray and other studies....would this be considered a significant accomplishment and could it be listed on our application somewhere? Thanks for the feedback.
