Timing of aways if taking a year off was created by orthobadger
Hello - I'm currently an MS3, planning on going into ortho. I'm also planning on doing an MPH after I graduate 4th year. So I am wondering, is it still OK to do my away rotations and sub-I in fall of 4th year & ask for LOR at this time? I've heard you can have your medical school hold letters for you and then send them to the letter writers the following spring/summer to have the date amended and write a quick additional line about the MPH. Is this reasonable, or what it be much preferable to do aways/sub-i in the spring of 4th year and get letters at that time?

Thanks much!

My thoughts would be to do Spring rotations so you are in their mind as close to the timeline for your match process. Your letters will all be dated for the year you start your match process, etc...
