I am specifically interested in doing a six year residency and continuing my training. Are there any opportunities/faculty encouragement to extend this research year into a formal post-doc fellowship? Are departments willing to encourage and support new faculty that wish to start their own K08 or R01 funded lab? Do you have any advice for someone who wants to be an orthopedist scientist?
