I'm a 3rd year resident in Medicine right now and I've always been interested in ortho since starting my residency program and regret not applying. My interest in ortho was sparked upon seeing a pt during my ED rotation as a 4th year medical student and following that pt. After which I did an Ortho AI. I was not much a big gunner type during medical school though and did not apply to ortho since then I was told that I need ridiculous scores on Step I & II and all Honor during med. school. My step I was 200 and Step II a 210. I'm almost done with my third of residency and was wondering what kind of chance I have in getting into an ortho program after finishing my program in the summer (since I will be an attending)? Should I even think of apply since I'll be an attending and are there any rules or regulations in this regard? What are the pros and cons of such a move?
