Question: Suppose I were to send an Email/letter conveying that a program was my first choice. Are there programs that send copies of this message to other programs prior to the submission of rank lists?
For instance an applicant said that program A was his/her first choice, would Program A tell program B, and if program A at the last minute decided to rank that applicant low enough not to match. Does this type of scenario typically occur where telling one program they are you number one eliminate your chances at your back up programs?
I obviously cannot speak for all programs but the scenario you outline seems incredibly unlikely to occur. Very few programs share their rank lists and I certainly am unaware of anyone moving someone down a rank list if it were to occur.
