Transitional Year or research? was created by curtis
I am a third year med student currently with a below avg. ortho resume who will be applying to ortho programs next fall. As of now I am planning to apply for a transitional year as a backup. I'm interested in how I should approach applying for a transitional surgical year. Do you tell ortho programs you are applying for a transitional year? Is it poor form to apply for the transitional year at the same hospital as one of the ortho programs I am applying to? Will doing a transitional year help me get into an ortho program and what is the process for applying at that time? Lastly, which is more beneficial, doing a transitional year or a year of research? I'm sorry for the convoluted question but I'd really appreciate your insight.
