I have listed a few big-name prelim programs on my rank list.
However, after looking at some specifics, it appears that PGY-1s at some programs do not do Plastics until their second year, yet it is a PGY-1 requirement for ortho. I think they have a set curriculum for the interns/prelims.
Will this pose a problem if I end up at one of this places?
Contact the program and ask if they'll work with you. That is really the only way to know for sure. Also be aware that prelim rotations are not always (infact often not) the same as categorical, so make sure you're looking at prelim schedules and not categorical.
