I was originally scheduled for 3 ortho months (1 home + 2 aways); however, my dad is having unexpected major surgery during what was supposed to be my home month. He's facing a serious illness and I would like to spend this time with the old man.
That being said, how much would 'only' doing 1 home and 1 away affect my chances at matching in ortho? My application is otherwise above average, I think (Step 1 >245, 2 abstracts in ortho, 1 ortho pub, all honors first 3 years, former collegiate athlete).
The value of doing 2 away roations is that you get to see 2 additional programs and "interview" them as much as they are interviewing you. With the credentials you presented, you will hopefully not have any difficulty matching!
