How to spin unrelated research? was created by wildcatdeac
I'm currently pursing a neuroscience PhD as part of an MD/PhD program and my research is pretty far-removed from ortho - i.e. epilepsy and the neurobiology of alcohol. I chose my lab based on the PI, thinking that he would do a great job at getting me through the program in a short amount of time and thinking that the research he did in his lab sounded interesting. However, I've since developed a strong interest in ortho.

My question: how should I frame my research when discussing it with ortho attendings at my home program and on interviews?

I don't want to bore them with something they can't relate to their clinical practice, but I also don't want to try to draw far-fetched connections between my research and something ortho-related.
