Options if you don't match

Unfortunately, I did not match this year. I have >250 Step 1 and >260 Step 2 and am in the top 10% of my class. I have worked on a couple of research projects, but have no publications. I am trying to decide between doing a prelim year in gen surgery or doing a year of research. I am open to either. Which do you think would be the most profitable for me to improve my chances next year? Any help would be appreciated.

2. How many away rotations?
3. How many programs you applied to?
4. How many interviews you received and how many you went to?
5. How many programs did you end up ranking?
6. Do you have a home program?
7. Did you have strong LOR?
8. Did you feel awkward during the interviews?
9. Why do you think you did not match?
