I overapplied for away rotations on advice from a graduate from my school. Now, I have acceptances at Tulane and Baylor for a month this fall, and I await to hear from Stanford for that same block.
I was hoping that an attending or resident could comment on the strengths of these programs, since both Baylor and especially Tulane have had recent adversity in the past few months (based on information I've gathered from this site). I'm not looking for "program bashing." I would just like get more information about these programs to decide on an away rotation.
I am from the south, went to undergrad in the South, med school in midwest, and have no preference on where I land for residency. I would like a program with decent trauma and research production (possibly a research year, which none of these programs have).
I never interviewed at Tulane, but word on the interview trail was that the program had to downsize after Katrina. I'm not sure how much they have rebounded from that.
Now Baylor I was extremely impressed with. It seems like you get a ton of op experience and autonomy at Ben Taub and their hospital system is just insanely large. I would chose this place over Tulane.
