I promptly submitted my ERAS application on 9/1. All of my LORs were in on time, however, the author of one of them was planning to update the letter and send it in (thus changing the original letter). The letter has now been uploaded to replace the previous one on ERAS, but I see most programs have already downloaded my application (with the old letter).
Will programs be notified that the letter they had originally downloaded has been updated?
I'm not a program director, but if I remember correctly one of the PDs answered this question and said that programs are notified of all updates to your ERAS. So depending on whether they decide your file is complete or not they may re-download it. Some programs download in batches so it doesn't happen necessarily very soon after your submit your original application or an update. I'd just check on your ERAS and keep tabs on whether or not that updated LOR is being re-downloaded. If it doesn't look like its happening I guess you could contact the programs...
