I was wondering regarding the state of Hip Arthroscopy in the USA.
Are a lot of people doing them and is it mainly the Sports guys, or are some of the Joints guys doing them too?
I'm an Australian resident and I aim to be a "hip guy" doing a lot hip arthroplasty, but figured I should have the skill set up my sleeve to look after young adult hip patients.
Hip arthroscopy has taken off in quite a big way downunder and so I was just curious as to whether it's also on the increase in the US?
There are definitely people doing it in the US. There are 2 staff in my residency (22 core faculty, 7 sports) who do them. The biggest guy is probably Philippon at Vail who i think his entire practice is hip scopes. The issue in the US is some insurance companies deem it experimental and don't cover it. That'll change as more data come out.
