I was wondering the importance of medical school ranking in selecting applicants for interview at the best programs. Is that a significant selection criterion along with research, boards, grades etc?
There is the 2011 match results statistics out there. You can browse through it. I believe it does not rank high. But when you speak about "top" programs. Probably everything matters. The best way to check this out though is to go on a website of the programs you are interested in and see who they have been taking. Usually programs have photos and medical schools attended of their residents posted. It will give you an idea.
