I am currently an active duty Air Force flight surgeon. I completed a rotating surgical internship prior to flight medicine training. I applied this year for first year positions and have had plenty of interviews. I have had several progams ask me about second year positions and I was wondering if any attendings out there had advice/recommendations concerning pursing a second year spot. At this time I am planning to utilize the match, but I am making sure I cover all the bases. I also recently learned that I will be "sponsored" throughout residency and will not cost whichever program I attend any salary/benefits.
