Been hearing a lot about "pre-match" offers from programs while out on auditions, and wanted to find out how legit these are. Is it true that most programs calls their top candidates and tell them whether or not they'll match? Also heard that you're supposed to let other programs know if you're not coming there and that they'll "be pissed" if you don't and end up going somewhere else. Can you truly trust a "offer" outside the match? Seems risky...? Any input from those who have gone through this process would be great. Thanks.
Most DO programs will call their "top" candidates and let them know that they are being ranked their and ranked to match. In the end, its an unfortunate game that is played and you need to look out for yourself first and foremost.
In the end, make your rank list on how you want to make it; not by the phone calls or emails they you may or may not have gotten.
